The board of Educate Maine, a business-led education advocacy organization, is pleased to announce that Edmund "Ed" Cervone has joined the organization as executive director.
Most recently, Ed was the director of operations at Denver Preschool Program in Denver, Colorado. Previously, Cervone was the president and CEO of Maine Development Foundation (MDF) until September 2013 after successful roles as the organization's senior program director and operations officer. Prior to MDF, he was an economic policy analyst at Maine Center for Economic Policy. Cervone began his professional career as a high school science teacher at the Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey. He has a Master of Science in ecology and environmental science with honors from The University of Maine, and a Bachelor of Arts in geosciences with honors from Princeton University.
Cervone has served, among others, on the advisory board of the New England Public Policy Center at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, board of directors of the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center, Maine Children's Alliance, Maine Children's Growth Council and Hallowell city councilor.
