Science Educator Round Tables Announced!

July 14, 2023 · Stipend-supported events to share your voice

Educate Maine, in partnership with The Roux Institute and Maine Bioscience Association, is excited to be designing a mobile bioscience laboratory that will visit schools across the state to increase interest in and awareness of bioscience content and careers. We invite you to participate in an educator round-table! It is important to us to engage teachers at the start of this design process to ensure that we enhance what you are already doing, engage in areas that might otherwise be unavailable to you, and support Maine teachers in meeting their curriculum needs to promote positive outcomes for Maine students.

We are hosting focus groups in Machias, Farmington, and Presque Isle as well as a virtual focus group for educators outside these areas to maximize our impact. We are looking for public school teachers who are engaged in teaching the sciences to join us for a 2-hour roundtable followed by lunch (when in person).

A $200 stipend will be provided for your time and an additional $50 travel stipend if you join us at an in-person session.

Focus Group Series:
Thursday, August 3rd - Virtual RSVP
Tuesday, August 15th - Aroostook County: Presque Isle RSVP
Wednesday, August 16th - Washington County: Machias RSVP
Thursday, August 17th - Franklin County: Farmington RSVP

A maximum of 10 tickets are available per session so sign up soon! Please feel free to share with science-focused teachers in your area who you think might also be interested in attending. Please know that our Mobile Lab is focused on middle school, grades 6-8 at this time though we welcome other educator level input as we work with your community.
