June 06, 2025

Educate Maine’s executive director, Jason Judd, Ed.D., has been confirmed as a new member of the State Workforce Board. The Maine Senate unanimously approved Judd and five other nominees to the employer-led panel, which advises the governor on workforce development policy.

"The core work of the State Workforce Board - aligning our economic and workforce development goals - is critically important to Maine people and businesses,” said Board Chair Vaughan Woodruff. “The Board has gained six new exceptional leaders.”

Among its other duties the workforce board addresses the development and evaluation of Maine’s Workforce Development System, which includes other state agencies such as the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services, along with the Community College System, University of Maine System, and Maine employers.

“I am honored to join the State Workforce Board,” Judd said. “I look forward to helping the board strengthen Maine's workforce development system to help all Maine people thrive in our economy."

Judd joined Educate Maine in 2016 and worked in a variety of roles before being named to top leadership in 2019. A former teacher, college and career counselor, director of studies, and academic dean at Maine Central Institute, Judd holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Farmington in secondary education in English, a master’s degree from the University of Southern Maine in educational leadership, and a doctorate in organizational leadership studies from Northeastern University. He is the past chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Maine School of Science and Mathematics and currently serves as a board member for the Maine 4-H Foundation, the advisory board of Live and Work in Maine, and the education advisory board of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute.
