It's great to connect with other organizations doing the critical work of building workforce! Manager of Workforce Partnerships Hannah Greene and Workforce DevelopmentSpecialist Meg Krieger spent two days in the nation's capital connecting and learning at the National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC) Summit.
Greene was a panelist for the opening plenary conversation on "Building Pathways That actually Lead Somewhere," and was able to show some of Maine's successes in youth workforce models. Greene and Krieger also spent a day on Capitol Hill in conversation with Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and staffers in the offices of Sen. Angus King, I-Maine and Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine. They highlighted Educate Maine's youth workforce development programming and advocated for sustained federal funding and investment in workforce programs that serve in-school youth and Opportunity Youth, who are disconnected from school and work.
