The Workforce Development Specialist is responsible for coordinating strategies, partnerships, and programs that create, expand, and strengthen opportunities for apprenticeship in companies throughout Hancock, Waldo, and Penobscot Counties. This position will create and oversee a portfolio of apprenticeship programs, coordinating programmatic activities with industry partners. The Specialist will also assist the Program Director in designing and realizing broader strategic goals, such as incubating pilot programs and strengthening connections with industry partners.

The Workforce Development Specialist will work in close collaboration with internal teams including Maine Career Catalyst and Project>Login as well as a wide variety of external stakeholders, including employers and industry advisory councils, high schools and community colleges, and colleagues throughout Maine. This position is grant funded and will require frequent local travel in the Hancock, Waldo, and Penobscot Counties region with other day-to-day work being completed from a home office.

This position will require the candidate to commute to events throughout Maine and be available for occasional in-person, all-staff meetings. Other day-to-day work can be done remotely. This position requires evening and weekend hours as needed and reports to the Program Director of Maine Career Catalyst.

The expected start date for this position is September 6, 2022. This position is grant funded through 2024 with the potential to continue based on securing additional funding. 

Salary range: $50,000-54,000 based upon skills and experience. Benefits include a flexible work environment, 12 paid holidays, 15 vacation days, and 12 sick days per year.
