We're Hiring! STEM Educator

November 06, 2023 · Join our new program: Maine Mobile BIOLAB

Educate Maine is a dynamic organization dedicated to advancing educational attainment and career readiness in Maine. We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a STEM Educator on our Maine Mobile Bioscience Laboratory (BIOLAB). If you love teaching, working with youth, have a strong passion for science, and want to make a meaningful impact in schools across Maine, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

As a STEM Educator on our Mobile Bioscience Laboratory, you will have the exciting opportunity to travel to middle schools across rural Maine, providing hands-on STEM education experiences to students. This is not your typical 9-to-5 job; it's a traveling educator position with ever-changing locations (travel expenses are reimbursed). You'll visit different schools every week, and your responsibilities will include presenting laboratory activities, supporting educators and students, assisting in program development, coordinating school and community partner visits, and managing equipment and supplies for the program. You'll be paired with another onboard Educator during school visits in a co-teaching role.

Our mobile lab is a custom outfitted STEM learning classroom, built inside a trailer that offers a blend of career and skills education, providing flexible in-classroom resources that empower teachers. The mobile labs will mostly serve Maine middle schools (grades 5-8) with a blend of other community and science-based learning programming during school breaks and a focus on rural and under-resourced communities.

The ideal candidate is based in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset, northern Washington or Hancock counties.
